Online casino without a limit: what is still capped since 1 July 2026
In short
No, an online casino entirely without limits still does not exist after 1 July 2026. At operators with a German licence, up to €3 per spin is now possible instead of €1, and up to €5 after 90 days without objections; what stays hard is the deposit limit of €1,000 a month across all operators. Crypto operators set their own limits: in game information, payment terms and review clauses.

Crypto casinos compared
What is compared is what each operator publishes about itself: the licence and the register entry, the list of countries it turns away, the rule on verification, and the cryptocurrencies on its payments page. A disclosed formula turns that into the order. None of the operators listed holds a German permit.

The first position is held by Vave and is paid for. The partnership buys that position and nothing else; it does not buy a score, because Vave is given none. Every place below it comes out of the formula, and none of those is for sale. How the score is worked out.
Anyone searching for “crypto casino without limits” or “casino without the €1 limit” lands on comparison sites still advertising headings like “Best casinos without the €1 limit”. Since 1 July 2026 that heading has been out of date. The Gemeinsame Glücksspielbehörde der Länder (GGL) has raised the maximum stake in two stages. The limit that really slows things down in the German market is the deposit limit of €1,000 a month, counted across all licensed operators together.
The other half of the answer concerns crypto casinos advertising “without limits”. They are not bound by the German thresholds, which does not make them limitless. Their limits sit elsewhere: in the highest stake a game allows, in a threshold above which a withdrawal is checked again, and in deadlines for supplying documents. This page sets both rule sets side by side and does the arithmetic wherever a figure is fixed.
The list below this text ranks operators by a disclosed formula with a fixed denominator of 10 points; an operator that does not evidence a detail loses points instead of dropping out of the calculation. The overview of all operators lists every brand separately. Analysis here means reading terms and registers, not playing at an operator.
The €1 limit has not existed in that form since 1 July 2026
For ten years one simple sentence applied: in a licensed German online casino, €1 per game is the end of it. It was in § 22a(7) sentence 1 GlüStV 2021, and it was the main argument of almost every comparison site. Since 1 July 2026 it is no longer true in that absolute form. Sentence 2 of the same provision lets the competent authority adjust the maximum stake to changed circumstances.
The GGL has used that with a decision guideline on adjusting the maximum stake. Stakes of up to €3 per spin are therefore possible, and up to €5 under further conditions. Every stake above €1 also carries an age limit of 21.
A site that still sells “casino without the €1 limit” as an exception is working from an outdated position. The limit that shapes everyday life in the licensed market more strongly lies elsewhere anyway: the monthly deposit limit.
What the GGL decided exactly, and how long it applies
The guideline rests on that same sentence 2. It applies from 1 July 2026 and runs only until 31 December 2027. Within that period it provides two stages. In stage 1 the stake may be up to €3 per game.
Stage 2 permits up to €5 per game and requires a 90-day period free of objections with continuous behavioural monitoring. If no indications of problem gambling appear in that time, the higher stake is possible. That is not an automatic increase for every operator and every account.
Anyone under 21 stays at €1 even after the increase. The time limit of 31 December 2027 is part of the decision; it promises nothing beyond that day. A casino without limits, in the sense of an unlimited stake, cannot be derived from the guideline.
The limit that has remained: €1,000 a month, across all operators
The deposit limit of €1,000 per calendar month is in § 6c(1) sentence 3 GlüStV 2021 and applies unchanged. It is the real hard limit in licensed German online gambling. Unlike the maximum stake it applies neither per game nor per account, but across operators.
Reconciliation runs through the GGL's central limit file. The arithmetic: €700 deposited at each of two licensed operators makes €1,400 and is €400 over the limit, although no single account breaches the threshold. That is what distinguishes the German limit from one an operator keeps only for its own house.
Switching operator or opening a second account changes nothing, because the file brings all licensed operators together. At a crypto operator this file is missing entirely: every account stands on its own, and a deposit limit exists there only if the operator offers one or the player sets it themselves.
How to have the deposit limit raised — and the 1% rule above it
On application the limit can be raised to up to €10,000 a month. Two conditions must come together: proof of economic capacity and the absence of indications of gambling addiction or a risk of it. As evidence the GGL requires verifiable proof of income, expressly naming tax assessments and bank statements. A self-declaration is not enough.
A limit between €10,001 and €30,000 a month may be granted to at most 1% of the players active with an operator. The arithmetic is plain: with 10,000 active accounts that is at most 100 people. The quota is an upper bound, not an entitlement. Anyone with all the evidence can still come away empty-handed once the places are taken.
The behavioural monitoring under § 6i(1) GlüStV 2021 continues at every stage. If indications of problem gambling behaviour appear, the operator must react, whatever limit was approved beforehand. A raised limit is therefore no permanent free pass, but a commitment subject to review.
The limits nobody talks about: five seconds, no autostart, no jackpot
Besides stake and deposit, § 22a GlüStV 2021 limits the game itself. A round must last at least five seconds on average (subsection 6). Automatically starting follow-up rounds are prohibited; the player triggers every round themselves (subsection 4). Stakes or winnings may not be accumulated to create prizes for future games — the jackpot ban (subsection 8). And the operator must technically prevent several virtual slot games being played at once (subsection 10).
The five seconds are the limit with the greatest effect, though they appear in no advertising. They cap the pace: an hour has 3,600 seconds, so at most 720 rounds fit into it on average. At a €3 stake that is up to €2,160 in turnover per hour, at €5 up to €3,600, and because only one game may run at a time, this figure cannot be doubled with a second window.
At a crypto operator these four rules do not apply. Whether a game there has autoplay, a fast-forward mode or a jackpot is decided by studio and operator, and it is stated in that game's information. The pace is then no longer a rule but a setting; the 720-round calculation does not apply there.
5.3% tax on the stake and what that does to the payout
The virtual slot machine tax is 5.3% and is governed by § 37 Rennwett- und Lotteriegesetz (RennwLottG). The operator is liable for it, not the player. The tax arises when the stake is placed and is declared monthly.
The tax base is the stake less the tax itself (§ 36 RennwLottG). A small calculation follows: tax = 0.053 ÷ 1.053 × stake. At a stake of €1.00 that is about €0.0503, not €0.053; at €5.00 about €0.25. The amount is taken out of the stake, not added on top.
Because the tax attaches to the stake and not to the yield, in practice it is passed on through the game's payout structure. Exactly how an operator does that is stated in that game's information. There is no general RTP figure for the German market, and this page names none.
Limits in a crypto casino: where they sit and how they are worded
For operators without a German licence the thresholds of the previous sections do not apply; the legal assessment has a page of its own. Limits exist there too, only not in a statute. They are spread across three operator documents: the general terms and conditions, the payment terms and the individual game's information. Anyone who wants to know how “without limits” is meant must open all three.
The maximum stake per round is a game setting there. It can be read off in the game itself: set the stake to the highest value, note the figure. There is no general figure for the market, and this page names none. The same goes for a maximum win per round or per day. Whether the terms contain such a cap is shown only by searching the text for “maximum win” or “max win”.
A deposit limit that adds several operators together does not exist in this part of the market. One account knows nothing of the other, and a crypto deposit runs without a bank that could keep count. Anyone wanting an upper bound sets it themselves, if the operator offers an account item such as “Limits” or “Responsible Gambling”. If it is missing, the balance of one's own wallet is the only limit, and that one knows no end of month.
Withdrawal limits per day, week and month: the clause that counts
The limit that actually bites when there is a win sits on the withdrawal side. Where it exists, the payment terms word it as an amount per day, per week or per month, sometimes per individual request as well. The arithmetic is plain: the win divided by the limit gives the number of periods until full payout. This page names a specific withdrawal limit only where the operator's terms state one.
Independently of that there are review thresholds. Of the 22 brands on the list, an amount from the terms is recorded for exactly two: Bitcasino.io in clause 6.6 €2,500 or the equivalent in cryptocurrency, Empire.io in clause 5.4 2,000 USDT. Above that a withdrawal can be subject to additional KYC checks, and both reserve checks below it as well. The promise of “without verification” ends here at the latest.
The third limit is time. Playbet.io, Slotum and Bitkingz write into their terms that an account can be blocked if the player cannot be reached within two weeks; at Slotum and Bitkingz this relates to the time after a withdrawal request. Stake reserves the right under clause 4.8 to restrict withdrawals until identity is sufficiently established. These are not amount limits, but they decide whether a payout runs at all.
Finally the currency. A threshold in USDT and a withdrawal in Bitcoin do not match one to one: with a fluctuating coin, the rate on the day of the request decides whether the limit is touched. A stablecoin removes that blur. The sender pays the network fee; on small withdrawals it can make up a noticeable share, and how an operator accounts for it is in its payment terms.
How to check this yourself
- 01
Check the GGL whitelist
Open gluecksspiel-behoerde.de and call up the official whitelist. Search for the operator's name. If it is there, the stake stages and deposit limit of this page apply. If not, only the limits it writes into its own terms apply.
- 02
Apply for a limit increase
In the account of a licensed operator, choose the menu item Deposit limit or Limits. Apply for the increase to up to €10,000 and upload your latest tax assessment and your most recent bank statements. The value in the limit field shows whether the increase was granted.
- 03
Check the stake stage in the game
Open a virtual slot game and set the stake to the highest value. If €3 is selectable, the operator has implemented stage 1. If €5 is also selectable after 90 days of monitoring, that is stage 2. If the maximum is €1, the release is missing.
- 04
Measure the round duration
Over ten rounds, time each round from start to finish and take the average. If at a licensed operator it is under five seconds, the game does not comply with § 22a(6) GlüStV 2021. At a crypto operator the same measurement only shows how fast play is there.
- 05
Recalculate the tax share
Take the stake, for example €1.00. Calculate 0.053 divided by 1.053 times the stake. The result is the tax share, about €0.0503 at €1.00. Compare it with the operator's game information, where the tax is shown there.
- 06
Search for the withdrawal clause
Open the crypto casino's payment terms and search for “withdrawal limit”, “daily”, “weekly” and “monthly”. Note amount, period and currency. Divide a possible win by the limit; the result is the number of periods until full payout.
Frequently asked questions
+Is there an online casino in Germany without a deposit limit?
Not with a German licence. Under § 6c(1) sentence 3 GlüStV 2021 the limit of €1,000 a month counts across all licensed operators together and rises to up to €10,000 only with proof of income. Crypto operators have no such cross-operator limit; there the individual operator's stake ranges, review thresholds and withdrawal clauses do the limiting.
+Was the €1 limit abolished in 2026?
No, not abolished, but relaxed. § 22a(7) sentence 1 GlüStV 2021 still names €1, sentence 2 lets the authority adjust it. Since 1 July 2026 a GGL guideline applies: up to €3 per game, and up to €5 after 90 days without objections. For stakes above €1 the age limit is 21.
+Do crypto casinos have a withdrawal limit?
Each operator decides that in its payment terms, as an amount per day, week or month, or not at all. Two review thresholds are evidenced: Bitcasino.io names €2,500 in clause 6.6, Empire.io 2,000 USDT in clause 5.4. Above that a withdrawal can be checked additionally, and below it too if the operator requires it.
+What maximum stake applies at an operator with a Curaçao or Anjouan licence?
None set by law, only the one the individual game permits. The stages of €1, €3 and €5 bind only operators with a German licence. At the rest, the stake range is in the game information; the game shows the actual value when the stake is set to the maximum. Searching the terms for “maximum win” shows whether a maximum win applies as well.
+Which documents do I need for an increase of the deposit limit?
Verifiable proof of income; tax assessments and bank statements are expressly named. A self-declaration is not enough. Two things are checked together: economic capacity and the absence of indications of gambling addiction or a risk of it. If one is missing, the existing limit stays.
+What does the 1% rule mean for limits above €10,000?
An operator may grant a limit between €10,001 and €30,000 a month to at most 1% of its active players. With 10,000 active accounts that is at most 100 people. The quota is an upper bound, not an entitlement, and behavioural monitoring continues at this stage too.
+Why is a limit sometimes stated in USDT instead of euros?
Because the operator books in cryptocurrency. Empire.io states its review threshold in clause 5.4 as 2,000 USDT. USDT is pegged to the US dollar; in euros the threshold therefore moves with the dollar rate, not with the rate of a fluctuating coin. Anyone withdrawing in Bitcoin converts the amount on the day of the request before comparing it with the limit.
+How high is the tax on virtual slot games?
The virtual slot machine tax is 5.3% of the stake, calculated on the stake less the tax itself. At a stake of €1.00 that is about €0.0503. The operator is liable for it, not the player. In practice it is passed on through the payout structure; there is no general RTP figure for Germany.
