Reputable crypto casinos: how a licence statement can be checked at all

In the German market the word reputable is often equated with friendly support, a fast withdrawal or a large bonus. All of that is subjective and can change from week to week. This page uses the term differently: a provider counts as reputable when its stated licence is verifiable in a register and the entry confirms name, status and domain.

This definition narrows the field considerably. Many brands drop out not because of a poor bonus but because their licence number is absent from the register, because the domain is missing, or because the licence conditions contradict their own business model. The check therefore begins not with the games on offer but with whether the foundation holds.

An assessment on this website rests on public registers and terms and conditions, not on a playing session. There is no deposit and no first-hand account. That is less glamorous, but it is what the word reputable demands: a check one can follow rather than a gut feeling. Every rating using this word should be measured against that.

The Gemeinsame Glücksspielbehörde der Länder, based in Halle (Saale), has supervised nationwide online gambling since 1 January 2023. Under § 9(8) GlüStV 2021 it publishes an official list of the operators and intermediaries holding a German permit or concession. That list stands at gluecksspiel-behoerde.de.

The whitelist is the only binding place to look up a German permit. If a name is missing there, the provider works without a German licence, whatever number stands in its footer. For the check this means: the whitelist is the first step, not the last. Of the 22 brands on this list, 21 name a licence from Curaçao or Anjouan; there the check continues.

The whitelist answers exactly one question: does this provider hold a permit under German law? It does not answer whether it is solvent, whether its games are fair or its support good. Those questions must be checked separately, and none is settled by an entry. The list is a register extract, not a seal of quality.

Ten of the 22 brands on this list name a Curaçao Gaming Authority number in the form OGL/YEAR/NNN/NNNN. It can be looked up in the authority's certificate register at cert.cga.cw. The register names the licence holder, the current status and the domains that may be operated under it. For all ten the status there is Active.

Two Curaçao registers circulate and contradict each other. Only the query via cert.cga.cw is binding. Older numbers in the form 8048/JAZ come from the old Antillephone system and are no evidence of a current licence. Anyone seeing such a number should check the official register for whether the provider is still listed there at all.

On this website's list that affects one brand: Bitdreams names the number 8048/JAZ2019-015. No status from cert.cga.cw is recorded for it, and this page therefore calls its licence neither active nor valid. That shows in the rating: on the licence component Bitdreams reaches 0.8 out of 2.5 points, the ten brands with the status Active the full 2.5.

Behind an Anjouan licence stands the Anjouan Offshore Financial Authority, AOFA for short. Since May 2023 it has been administered by the private Anjouan Licensing Services Inc. Licence numbers take the form ALSI-YEARNUMBER-FI2 or -FI3. Ten brands on this list name such a number, and the register at anjouangaming.com carries all ten with the status valid. What that status is worth hangs on the body that awards it.

The licence brokers selling Anjouan licences all publish the same list of restricted countries. Germany and Austria stand on it, as do the United States, the United Kingdom, France, Spain, the Netherlands, Australia and the Comoros themselves. On the authority's own website, anjouangaming.com, no country list is published. This website therefore gives the list as what it is: a statement by the brokers, not a citable legal text.

Another finding weighs more heavily. An investigation by the Australian ABC of 31 December 2025 records that the central bank of the Comoros calls these licensing bodies fictitious institutions with no physical or legal existence on Comorian territory. Banking laws of 2013 and 2015 withdrew recognition of the AOFA as a regulatory authority. The authority relies on a law of 2005 from the time of Anjouan's breakaway government.

For a German reader this means: an Anjouan number is a register entry with a private body whose standing is disputed at home. It is not consumer protection and not a complaints body. Anyone relying on such a licence relies on a construction the central bank of the country of origin does not recognise, not on state supervision that could be called upon in a dispute.

A structural pattern shows in the providers discussed here. Four brands that do not carry Germany on their own restricted list name the same Anjouan licence number: ALSI-202508056-FI2. They are Bitkingz, PlayAmo, Slotum and Winz.io, and the register names the same holder for all four, Novatrix SRL. Turning from one of these brands to the next in a dispute lands you at the same counterpart.

A similar pattern shows with the Curaçao number OGL/2024/1307/0748, which is named by 7Bit Casino and Mirax. Here too the same licence stands behind two brands. That need not be fraud, but it does not widen the choice. It means meeting the same contracting party under different names. The distinction between the brands is then mainly marketing.

More striking still is the contradiction among the Anjouan brands. The brokers of the licence carry Germany and Austria as restricted countries. The four brands named do not, in their own terms. The licence they invoke and the contract they offer thus draw two different maps. That is a contradiction one can see without opening a game.

A licence is not an ornament. It fixes which domains and which markets an operator may work for. If the brokers of a licence carry a country as restricted while the casino's terms do not exclude it, the two documents do not fit together. That is no marginal detail but the question of what the stated licence refers to at all.

This contradiction has practical consequences. A licensing body will hardly feel responsible for complaints from a market its own licence excludes. The operator can invoke the number; the customer can derive little from it. The country lists are also hard to compare: in this website's data the number of excluded countries runs from 1 to 220. Six brands carry 216 to 220 countries, five others only 1 or 2.

The check is simple: open the register entry and the licence broker's statement on restricted countries. Then open the provider's terms and search for the words Germany, restricted or prohibited. If the statements do not agree, the stated licence is no sound basis. A long list is no seal of quality here and a short one no blemish; what counts is whether it matches the licence.

Provably fair is a verification procedure for single game rounds. Before the round the provider publishes the hash of a secret server seed, usually as SHA-256. The player sets or receives their own client seed. Both together with a counting nonce produce the result via HMAC-SHA256. After the round, or after the seed is changed, the provider releases the server seed. Hashing it must return the hash published beforehand; repeating the calculation must return the same result.

All this proves is that this round ran by the rule fixed in advance. It says nothing about the house edge. A provably fair game may have any paytable, a bad one included. Proved is that the rule was kept, not how high the rule is set. It says nothing about the provider's solvency or about a licence either.

Provably fair covers only the rounds that actually run that way. Slots from large studios often run at the same providers through the studio's conventional random number generator; the procedure then applies to the in-house games, not to everything in the catalogue. It is also no help against the conditions around the game: wagering requirements, withdrawal caps, account closures and verification duties stand in the terms and are touched by no hash.

First open gluecksspiel-behoerde.de and look for the provider in the whitelist. A missing entry is a result too; note it. Second, copy the licence number from the footer and enter it in the licensor's register, for Curaçao at cert.cga.cw, for Anjouan at anjouangaming.com. Third, compare holder, status and registered domain with the provider. Active or valid means the entry exists, no more.

Fourth, open the provider's terms and conditions and look for statements on restricted countries. Fifth, if provably fair is advertised, open the fairness menu, set your own client seed, play a round and then change the seed. The released server seed must yield the hash published beforehand. These five steps give you a solid basis in ten minutes.

What this sequence does not deliver is a guarantee that the provider pays. Nor a recommendation to play there. It answers only whether the stated licence holds and whether the technical fairness claim is verifiable for a given round. Everything else stays a decision you make yourself on that basis.
